The Board of Directors of the Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories (CCIL) is pleased to announce that Trevor Gluck, P.Eng., has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Association. Mr. Gluck will be responsible for the management of all facets of the CCIL and will lead the Association into continued growth and service to members and ancillary organizations. Mr. Gluck will enhance CCIL’s vision as protectors of public safety and the environment.
Mr. Gluck is a longstanding leader in the construction materials testing industry with over 28 years of combined experience in the construction materials testing industry and construction related positions. For the past 18 years, Mr. Gluck has been extensively involved in managing and overseeing CCIL certified materials testing laboratories through his roles with WSP and its predecessor firms, AMEC and Wood. His expertise spans the full spectrum of quality control and assurance for concrete, asphalt, and soils testing, supporting a wide range of infrastructure and transportation projects across Western Canada.
From 2015 to 2020, Mr. Gluck served as the North American Materials Practice Area Lead for AMEC, where he provided strategic leadership, technical guidance, and operational oversight for materials labs across the business. His contributions at the time helped shape the role of mobile field data collection as well as establishing a standardized reporting process across the North American laboratories.
Mr. Gluck’s connection to materials testing runs even deeper. His passion for concrete began in his youth, spending summers from the age of 12 working at the concrete plant his father operated. Starting with operating loaders and eventually progressing to batching concrete and testing for quality control, Trevor’s early hands-on experience has given him a lifelong appreciation for the importance of quality and standardization in materials and workmanship.
Mr. Gluck previously served on the CCIL Board of Directors from 2017 to 2023, including a two-year term as CCIL President from 2021 to 2023. His prior experience with CCIL certification programs will be advantageous in his review of the entire CCIL operation to ensure compliance with CCIL policies and objectives.
“This career opportunity is a continuation of the utilization of my strengths gained through many years in the construction and testing industries. I am excited about the challenges ahead in reinforcing CCIL’s position as the preeminent construction materials testing certification body in Canada,” said Trevor Gluck.
“Trevor’s wealth of experience as a long-term client of the CCIL certification programs combined with his previous years of service on the CCIL Board of Directors and a two-year term as CCIL President makes him a natural fit for this position. We congratulate Trevor on his return to CCIL “, added CCIL President Mark Charbonneau.
