President’s Message

The Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories is a dynamic organization that represents the interests of the independent testing industry in Canada. Our members test the water you drink, the asphalt pavements you drive on and verify the quality and safety of many of the manufactured products you buy.  Our members are tax-paying businesses that operate in your communities and subscribe to a comprehensive code of ethics.

Our member firms maintain high standards of certification and accreditation and continually strive to improve the level of service and quality they offer to their clients.  This commitment to quality compels us to continually maintain and upgrade our equipment and to provide on-going training and advancement opportunities to our employees. We participate in the development of testing standards and are vocal advocates for the need for independence in the provision of unbiased testing services. In addition, CCIL provides certification programs for laboratories and technicians on behalf of the industry.  These programs now include a Qualification Program for Concrete Laboratories.  We actively partner with government agencies and other organizations to promote and safeguard the vital role of the independent testing industry in maintaining the safety of our environment and ensuring that laboratory testing services are available at competitive prices.

CCIL is an active member of the Union Internationale des Laboratoires Indépendants  (UILI) the worldwide organization representing the independent testing industry,  and works closely with the Canadian Association for Laboratory Accreditation (CALA), the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and our sister organization in the United States, the American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL).  Through these and other associations, we provide our members with the latest information on advancements in laboratory testing standards and procedures from around the world.

This directory showcases the skills, expertise, services and diversity of our member firms. Please keep it available for easy reference, next time you have a need for reliable testing services. Our member firms would welcome your inquiries at any time with respect to the range of services they can provide.  An index is included to allow you to search for a laboratory in your area or to determine those laboratories that can perform a specific test. 

Although we sometimes take it for granted, the availability of reliable, accurate, timely and unbiased laboratory testing is vital to all aspects of our daily lives.  Help ensure a successful project outcome by supporting a healthy, independent laboratory testing industry in Canada by specifying a CCIL member laboratory for your next testing assignment.
